About the College
The Meston College of Education, founded in 1937 by visionary missionary educators, has been a beacon of teacher education and academic excellence for decades. Established with a commitment to the highest ideals of learning, service, and research, the College continues to uphold its legacy as one of the pioneering institutions in the field of education.
Affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University and recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Meston College focuses on preparing professionally competent, socially responsible, and ethically strong educators.
1937
Foundation
Founded under Rev. T. R. Foulger, the College began with a vision to provide quality teacher education in India, guided by missionary zeal and educational foresight.
1943
Postgraduate Milestone
Attained postgraduate status with the introduction of the M.Ed. degree programme, in cooperation with leading educational institutions in Chennai.
1975
Research Recognition
Recognized as a Research Centre for the Ph.D. degree, establishing its commitment to educational innovation and scholarly contribution.
1991
M.Phil. Programme
Received approval to offer the M.Phil. programme, further strengthening its postgraduate and research dimensions.
